Your call will be answered by caring volunteers who are familiar with over 300 grief support groups and organizations in the province. Volunteers are trained to listen compassionately and offer a sympathetic ear for the bereaved. Arbutus Funeral Service is proud to support the BCBH as Platinum Members.
Gardens of Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery - Gardens of Gethsemani was the first regional cemetery under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver. It was one of the last major endeavours of Archbishop Duke prior to his retirement in 1964. The first burial in the cemetery took place in 1966, but it was officially dedicated in September of 1968 by Archbishop Duke’s successor, Archbishop of Vancouver, Most Reverend Martin M. Johnson. The Roman Catholic Church has long recognized the significance and appreciated the atmosphere of deep Christian faith and profound reverence with which the church had surrounded the burial places of those who hope to rise in Christ. Catholic Cemeteries, established and cared for by the church throughout the centuries, often at considerable sacrifice, are not primarily a matter of economics, or even of public service, but the fulfillment of a religious act. The bodies of the faithful are treated even in death with reverence and religious care.
British Columbia Funeral Association - Members of the BC Funeral Association offer comfort and guidance at a time of loss to help family and friends find a path to closure. Member firms are dedicated to the belief that every ending should spark a new beginning, and that funeral service professionals play an important roll in turning present grief into acceptance and peace of mind. Members combine the comfort of familiar end-of-life traditions with new and more personal ways to celebrate the life of a loved one. Most of all, members are partners in preparing a ceremony that writes the perfect ending to the final chapter in your loved one's story. Funeral Director, Athena Theodorakakis has served on the Board of Directors since 2015 and is current President of the BC Funeral Association.
Stewart Monumental Works - Since 1896, BC's oldest and largest headstone manufacturing company has been supplying granite memorials to funeral homes and cemeteries throughout BC.
Parting Stone - Offers families who choose cremation an alternative to conventional ash. Their service solidifies the remains into a form that resembles a collection of smooth stones, called solidified cremated remains. Like regular stones, solidified remains are similar to ceramic and will not dissolve in water. The stones are perfect for memorial gardens or scattering.
Eternity's Touch - Since 2009, Eternity's Touch has produced over 100,000 one-of-a-kind pieces commemorating memories that last forever by capturing the uniqueness of a fingerprint and engraving it on jewelry and other memorial items.
Consumer Protection BC - Consumer Protection BC regulates funeral providers and a variety of other businesses in the province. Their purpose is to license and inspect regulated businesses, respond to consumer inquiries, investigate alleged violations of consumer protection laws, and educate consumers about their rights and responsibilities.
