Funeral services typically include:
- a visitation or prayer service where guests pay their respects to the decedent and spend time with the grieving family. Included in our service fee is a 1-hour viewing held at the Church on the same day as the Funeral. If required, we can also assist with evening services.
- a formal ceremony at a church where clergy or officiant leads the congregation through rituals to honour and remember the decedent. The service usual consists of prayers, readings, songs, and a eulogy.
- a post-service reception is where family and friends can gather to share memories, laugh, cry, and support each other.
Cremation or burial, as applicable, may occur either before the formal ceremony, between the ceremony and the reception, and even days before or after the funeral. We work with you to create a memorable service for your loved one.
We also help families who wish to have the service in a non-denominational facility.
Arbutus Funeral Service can assist with a service held at any venue, however, we have exclusive access to The Osborn Chapel in Maple Ridge where clergy or a celebrant lead the guests through speeches, readings, songs, tributes, or a slide show. The Chapel includes seating for up to 180, Audio/Visual equipment, podium, microphone, floral stands, tables and easels as required.
A reception can be arranged in their Tea Room, the Elliott Hall, conveniently located adjacent to the Chapel, where family and friends can gather to share memories, laugh, cry, and support each other. The Elliott Hall has 2 flat screen TVs, tables with linens and seating for 75 people. The Host will look after all the setup, clean up and looking after your guests.
