It is with profound sadness that the family of Walter Marconato announce his passing on October 16, 2026 at the age of 64.

Walter will always be deeply missed and remembered by his wife of 40 years, Lori; son Joe (Denise) Marconato, and daughter Emily (Kenny) Moon; grandchildren Scarlett, Talia, and Natalie; brother, Michael (Liliana, Tiana, and Dante) Marconato and sister Nora Gentile (Alessandra, Giuliano, Serena); as well as numerous relatives and friends. 

Walter grew up in East Vancouver with his Mom and three siblings. Walter spent many years playing football and fondly remembered his time with the Vancouver Trojans football team. After marrying Lori, and having two children, Walter’s focus was fully on his family. He spent his free time coaching his son’s football teams, and attending every sport and school event possible. As his kids grew older, Walter loved travelling and kayaking with his wife Lori. Some of their favourite memories were made on trips to Italy, Mexico, and various cruises.

Walter’s dedication was also shown through his 41 years spent working at Skytrain. Here he made countless life long friends that he loved to laugh with, and who were with him through the good times and the bad. 

Walter’s most treasured role in his life was being a grandfather. He loved his three granddaughters with his entire heart. He would do anything to make them laugh, created the best silly games, and was always there for hugs, snuggles, and snacks. 

Throughout his life, Walter always chose to make his family first priority. He loved with his whole heart and was the centre of the family. His selflessness, sense of humour, and unwavering loyalty was felt by all who knew him. He will be loved forever; and his memory will live on through his family and friends. 

Walter was predeceased by his mother and father, Angelina and Alberto Marconato, and his sister Lorenza Marconato. 

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
