Sara Merino Villaseñor was born in Tecolotlán Jalisco Mexico, one of the Ing. Enrique Merino Brambila and Dolores Villaseñor Cueva’s eight children. Growing up among ranches, she adored animals and plants alike. Sara was also artistic and studied painting and drawing in Guadalajara. After acting as an informal tour guide to her future brother-in-law, Dr. Frank Sennewald, she later had a letter introduction to Dr. George Sennewald, a German immigrant to Canada, who visited Teco. After five years of long-distance courting, they married there and eventually settled in Kamloops, BC.
They had two children, Brent and Lisa, whom Sara ensured were raised Catholic attending Church and Catholic schools. Most importantly, she was a kind, generous and humble person.
As a Mexican immigrant, Sara had compassion for others who felt like outsiders. Her favourite charities outside the church included Covenant House and a shelter in Kamloops.
When Sara wasn’t cooking her amazing meals or working in her enormous garden, tending to a goat, steer, chicken or duck on their acreage, she sang in the Kamloops Choristers and a few operettas in Kamloops such as The Mikado.
Her foremost dedication however, was always her family including her son-in-law Mac and her grandchildren Rebecca and Luke.
