It is with profound sadness that we said our final farewells to Ruth Eleanor Towers on June 27,
2023. She will be greatly missed by her partner, Judith; siblings Marg (Barry), Murray (Debbie);
children Kerri (Andy), Nikki (Steve), Chad (Camille), Trisha (Jason); and her grandchildren Zoe,
Summer, Dakota and Katelyn, nephews Jeff (Melissa), Steve (Tania) and Michael (Jasmin). Ruth
is pre-deceased by her parents, Vera and Hartley.
Ruth was affectionately known as the "Pied Piper of People"! Family, friends and strangers
were drawn to Ruth for her caring heart and sense of humour. She brought joy, laughter, and
smiles to all that knew her. One of the most important life lesson that she taught us all was
"always have something fun to look forward to" in your life.
Ruth grew up in Enderby, BC, earned her Social Work degree from UBC, and her career
spanned 35 years with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. She was also a
devoted volunteer and coached for Special Olympics BC. She shared her passion for floor
hockey, softball, bowling and golf. Ruth was committed to the growth and development of
hundreds of young athletes. Ruth enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid fisherwoman and in her later years enjoyed a good round of golf.
Ruth will be greatly missed by all that knew her, and we will hold her in our hearts until we meet again. Rest In Peace dear Ruth.
The Celebration of Life will take place on September 9th, in Enderby BC.
Place: Enderby Seniors Center, 1101 George Street
Time: 1-4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Special Olympics BC.

It is with a very sad heart that I say my farewells to you Ruth.
If we could all follow in your footsteps of caring, kindness, laughter, fun, family and friends first, we would surely be better for it. I enjoyed the privilege of being friends for over 25 years, with 14 of them working together coaching Special Olympics. I will dearly miss your presence, big heart and celebrating our June birthdays!
Farewell my friend.

Who knew that celebrating your 80th Birthday with you would be our last time together. I will so miss our Canuck game nights when we would either be commiserating a loss together or doing our own little happy dances if we won. And our Tuesday bowling - our team will keep on trying for those strikes and spares just for you. We know you will be cheering us on. What a legacy this caring, funny and determined woman leaves behind, having touched so many lives in such a positive way. Sending heartfelt condolences to the entire family, and Judy I’m heartbroken for your loss.

Knowing Ruth for the past 25 years was a treasured gift. It was our win when we welcomed her into our family as our sister-in-law. Immediately, we appreciated Ruth’s ability to make family feel welcomed, cared for, and genuinely loved with her big, generous heart. We also had so much fun and there was never a dull moment with her quick sense of humour. She made the world a more beautiful place for all who were lucky to know her. Ruth will be greatly missed but will live through each of us if we continue on her legacy of kindness. Rest in Peace gentle soul.
