Jacob (Jack) Van Der Zwan passed into glory on April 24, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife Janet, his nine children, Ena, Dennis, Michael, James, John, Andrew, Leanna, Nathan, and Tim, 22 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 1 predeceased great grandchild.

Jacob was born Jan 10, 1948, in Scheveningen, The Netherlands to Gysbertus and Hieke-Jans Van Der Zwan. He was one of 14 children.

He immigrated to Canada in 1959 and they settled in Langley, British Columbia, where he met Janet in 1966 at a young people’s meeting and they were married on November 24, 1967. Together they raised 9 children, in their 56 years of marriage.

Dad worked in construction most of his life installing underground piping and worked up to age 74 when he was diagnosed with ALS.

He served as an elder for many years at Langley Free Reformed Church and was involved in many of the church activities.

The passage he chose for his funeral service is Job 19: 25-27 "For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me."

Dear Janet and family; My condolences. I got to know Jack in the last few years when he did work at The King's School campus. It was always good to meet him. His zest for life and his hard and meticulous work is what impressed me, as well as his Christian walk. What a rich life and legacy he has left back.
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Ps 116:15
May you all be comforted by the comfort of Christ.

Dear Janet and family; It is a pretty safe thing to say that Jack and I did not agree on anything in life, except GOD'S WORD. Considering Job 19 verses 25 to 27, the text Jack chose for his promotion.....THAT IS ALL THAT REALLY MATTERS, Sincerely, Paul Houweling,. J.O.Y.

I have very pleasant memories of Jack. He was an extremely nice guy and devote christian. For a period of time he was our young people's leader and I enjoyed him very much. I also spend some time fishing with Jack. I still remember he paid me a big compliment because of my patience. They caught a whole bag full of fish and I caught none but was still happy to be with him fishing.
Rest in Peace . Until we meet again.

It was 1987 in August that I met
Jack Van Der Zwan Janet & the rest of the family playing soccer in our new back yard we were met with open arms.
Jack was a hard man and hard working man he took pride in what he did and most of all his family.
It was my first real paying job working with his company for a few years, and that doesn't include working in yard picking weeds. He taught me things that nobody else could or would from working hard, to being God into my life.
We will never forget you Jack love ya!
Till we meet again.
