A Legacy of Love and Courage: Emmanuel "Baby" Parappilly

Emmanuel Parappilly, known affectionately to all as Baby, was a man of rare character whose life was anchored by an unwavering devotion to his family. His greatest love story began the moment he laid eyes on his beloved wife, Miny. It was love at first sight—a providential spark that turned into a lifelong commitment. Driven by a legendary determination, Baby knew from that first encounter that she was meant to be his wife, and he spent the rest of his days proving that same steadfast loyalty to his family. As a father, his spirit lives on through his children, Kathy and Kevin, but his paternal reach extended far beyond his own home. He was a father figure to many, offering a blend of wise guidance, gentle discipline, and the kind of steady advice that helped shape the lives of everyone who sought his counsel.

Within his large family, Baby was the undisputed pillar and uniter. One of seven brothers, he was the glue that held things together, serving as a devoted brother to his siblings, a supportive brother-in-law to his sisters, and a deeply loving uncle. His capacity for friendship was boundless; Baby truly never met a stranger. Whether in familiar surroundings or among new faces, he had a natural gift for connection that made everyone feel welcomed and valued. He was a "friend to all" in the truest sense, leaving behind a vast network of people who were touched by his warmth and his unique ability to make anyone smile.

Above all, Baby will be remembered for his immense heart and his indomitable courage. He was a man of profound compassion and generosity, someone who would move mountains to help anyone in need, time and time again. This kindness was matched only by his bravery. As a "fighter" in every sense of the word, he faced life’s tremendous hurdles with a courageous spirit that never wavered. Even in the most difficult circumstances, Baby stood tall, teaching us all what it means to face the world with grace, strength, and an open hand. His legacy of bravery and benevolence is a light that will never truly dim.

Today, my heart feels heavy writing this.
Appachan was not just my mom’s elder sister’s husband — he was family in the truest sense of the word. He was the kind of man who believed family should sit together, eat together, laugh together, and stay together. Whenever he came from Canada for vacation, our home felt fuller, warmer, happier. Those days of eating together, long conversations, playing cards, traveling as a family — those are memories I will hold close to my heart forever.
He fought cancer bravely for several years. Even in his fight, he carried strength and dignity. That quiet courage is something I will always admire.
When I came to Canada in 2019, he was the one who picked me up. He showed me around, made me feel safe, and made a new country feel less overwhelming. I will never forget that. In many ways, he was the only man who showed me such pure compassion and kindness without judgment — just genuine care.
He and my dad shared a bond like brothers. He and my mom shared a relationship like real siblings — they fought, laughed, teased each other, and loved deeply. Watching their bond taught me what true family looks like.
Today, I am in India and I cannot attend his funeral, and that hurts deeply. But distance does not change love. It does not erase gratitude. It does not silence memories.
We will miss his smile.
We will miss his voice.
We will miss the way he brought everyone together.
Appachan, thank you for the love, the laughter, the guidance, and the compassion you gave me. You will always live in our stories, in our travels, in every family gathering, and in my heart.
Rest peacefully. You fought bravely.
You will be deeply missed♥️

Baby chettan was a rare and beautiful soul, a man defined by his boundless kindness and an inspirational spirit that acted as a North Star for everyone who knew him. He possessed a unique, welcoming energy and was incredibly personable and always had an open door for anyone in need. Whenever life presented a challenge, he was the person you turned to, always ready with a wise answer and the steady encouragement of a true motivator. We are so deeply proud that he was our son's Godfather; he was the ultimate example of how to lead with love and character, providing a blueprint of integrity that our son will carry with him forever. Though he is no longer here to guide us with his words, his legacy of warmth and his passion for lifting others up will remain our greatest source of inspiration.

Our beloved Baby Chettan/Baby Uncle/Baby Appapan is no longer with us! He faced his cancer journey with remarkable bravery, strength, grace, and inspired all who knew him.

He was a family oriented man. His family was the centre of his world, and he found his greatest joy in time spent together—especially at lively family gatherings (Easter, Christmas etc.) filled with laughter, jokes, reminiscing over family stories, and love. He was cherished by his brothers and their families and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Known for his vibrant personality, he had a way of making people smile even on the hardest days. He loved to talk and entertain everyone.

A true firework enthusiast, he delighted in moments of celebration and wonder, reflecting his own bright and joyful spirit. He lived life fully and passionately, embracing both the big moments and the simple pleasures with equal enthusiasm.

He will be remembered as a brave man with a generous heart, a devoted brother, and a loyal presence in the lives of many. His legacy lives on in the love he shared, the laughter he sparked, and the countless memories he leaves behind.

Baby Chettan/Baby Uncle/ Baby Appappan will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Baby, my dear brother, I love you and miss you. Because of you I have learned what bravery and kindness look like. You endured your long battle with cancer with bravery, grace and dignity, never once complaining. Even in your suffering you continued to show care and kindness to others.

In a simple thoughtful gesture, you once gave our overlooked uncle ( Vellippan ) a bottle of drinks. The joy and gratitude brought him tears. That was You - quietly noticing those we take them for granted and touching lives with genuine kindness.

I am truly blessed to have had you as a loving brother.
