Post a Tribute

Danny Lee Dobin was born on December 13, 1945, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to parents Robert and Beatrice Dobin. The family moved to British Columbia in 1956, where they built their family home in Burnaby.

For the last 25 years of his life, he served the Lord faithfully and wholeheartedly as Chair of Agape Street Ministry and Director of Sancta Maria House, organizations devoted to supporting vulnerable women on their journey to healing and recovery.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Sharon; his children Carrie, Rachel, Ian (Tania), and Kathleen (Tomo); and his grandchildren Matthew, Ethan, Evan, Jacob, Gabriel, Grace, Felicity, Owen, Quinn, Daniel, Caleb, Aidan. He is reunited in Heaven with his grandson Mitchell and son-in-law Edmond. He is also survived by his brother, Bob (Melissa), nephew Bobby, and niece Lesley.

Vigil Prayers will be held on Sunday, November 9th at 6:00 p.m at Immaculate Conception Parish in Delta, B.C. I remember the first time I met Dan. We were walking together as Agape Street Ministers, and somewhere between one block of Hastings to Cordova and the next, he shared his famous oatmeal cookie recipe with me that he also shared with the women on the street. But more importantly, he shared his faith. Dan carried a deep and generous love for the Lord, and a tender devotion to the women we served on the streets. He was strong, yet meek; gentle, yet joyfully funny. The women trusted him because they could see what we all saw—someone safe, honest, steady, and real.

As the years passed, I came to treasure his wisdom and the quiet witness of his faithfulness—especially in the way he cherished Sharon and their family. Dan had a beautiful soul, and I believe he will continue to intercede for us from the heart of Christ.

Rest in peace, dear friend.
May the memories we hold of you bring comfort, and may the Lord carry Sharon and the family tenderly as we wait in hope for the day we will all meet again.

Our hearts are broken. It wasn't that long ago that Danny had made one of his impromptu visits, we discussed our families, world events, and life in general, but inevitably as always our conversations would turn to how much Danny remembered about all the terrible things I did to him when we were kids, he remembered everything! Melissa would shake her head and out loud would ask "why Danny would you put up with all that stuff he did to you". Danny would shrug and just smile. We are going to miss those visits. Always in our hearts, Bob, Melissa, Bobby, Lesley [Mike}.

I've known Dan for over 20 years. He is always very kind, friendly and helpful. I have fond memories of the times when I first met him and his wife Sharon at Hope Faith House and he shared with us his story of how God called him. His love for God is evident in his faithful service, over the years, leading Agape Street Ministry! This Bible verse fits him well "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord. My spirit rejoices in God my Savior." He'll be dearly missed. ❤️

Dear Sharon, Carrie, Rachel, Ian and Kathleen,

Our deepest Sympathy from all of us here in the East (Ontario) as Danny often referred to us! We are very sad at his passing. I remember many times Danny visiting us when on business in Toronto and with Sharon and at Mom’s in Cornwall. We will surely miss him. There are so many, many fond memories. He had such a great sense of humour. He also could fix anything! He was a wonderful Faith filled brother in law. Until we meet again Danny may you rest in Peace.🙏

Dan was a wonderful member of the Parish finance team in my three years. His great faithfulness to mass, his wonderful quiet warmth and strength, his readiness to help his Parish inspired us all. A Lion of a man has left us. We are grateful for all of your help and support to Immaculate Conception over the years, Dan and Sharon. You were a power team indeed! God bless and reward his special servant!

Oh Sharon, my heart breaks for you and your beautiful family. I know how much you will miss Dan! I know he's with Jesus and that's a wonderful consolation but what a loss for us all! He always brought laughs, good sense, and wisdom to the Agape office! He was a treasured friend for Pat.
There's a saying... People may not remember your words but they'll remember the way you made them feel. Good on Dan! He was a lifter of Spirits, a Light Bearer.
May God comfort you all in your time of loss. Love & prayers, Pat & Vicki.
(We will be in Central America for the funeral but will remember Dan and all of you in our prayers)

I am very sad and in shock when i got the news. I was lucky to get the opportunity to help install some security cameras for
Sancta Maria House. He is the kind of guy that would do everything in his power to help you. The world need more people like him.

We were so, so sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. Most recently I knew him as a member of the Parish Finance Cte. on which he was witty, enthusiastic and generally just a pleasure to be around. Rest assured that we will be praying him, Sharon and his entire family
