 It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, Eih-Chaug Wu, on December 16th, 2023, at Laurel Place Care Center in Surrey, British Columbia. He is survived by his wife Su-Ching “Amy” Chang, his children, James, Christel and Jean-Luc, their spouses Teresa, Chris and Alex, and his grandchildren, Colette, Madeline, Margot and Connor. 

Charles was born in Taichung, Taiwan. At the tender age of 4 he lost his mother and would go on to lose his father in his teenage years. Despite lacking a stable home, he was an outgoing and energetic kid, and spent much of his time playing soccer and being the class clown. In his 20's, he spent time abroad in Africa and the US, before meeting his wife in 1982 and moving to Togo where he had three children. In 1992, he and his family immigrated to Vancouver before moving to Surrey where he would spend the rest of his life. 

Our father loved fishing and music, especially opera and Latin jazz. He was an amateur photographer and loved taking pictures of flowers and the snowfall, and was always in awe of the Canadian landscape. His faith was very important to him and he was an active participant of the church for nearly 30 years. We are grateful for everyone who visited him in the last months of his life, as he was very social and appreciated any company. Rest in peace dad, we love you and miss you.

The funeral will be held at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, at 11969-216 Street, Maple Ridge, BC on Thursday December 21st at 3pm, with reception to follow at 4pm.
