Come at least 10-15 minutes before the event is scheduled to begin. Visitors should always plan for delays due to traffic, detours, or weather conditions. Sometimes delays are unavoidable and you may reach a funeral house a few minutes late. In that case, find a seat at the back so that your arrival doesn’t disrupt anything.

2. Dress Properly

Most people wear modest black or neutral colored formal wear during a funeral. Men wear suits and women wear either suits or dresses. Don’t wear anything too casual or informal like jeans or t-shirts to a funeral because that will just cause offense. Stick with safe and simple clothing that you can wear to your office or similar places.

3. Place Your Phone on Silent

Place your phone on silent during the ceremony to ensure there’s no disruption. The last thing you want is for the device to ring while someone is delivering a eulogy. You can either switch the device off or keep it on silence. Don’t read messages or take calls when you’re inside because that will seem rude. If you do need to take a call, step out of the funeral home quietly and call back.
